Play Date at Sara's

I have a TON of pictures to post!
But I still have some saved drafts with pictures from way earlier in the summer...
I'm going to try to start posting again more regularly!
Here are just a couple from a play date at Jessica and Sara's house way back in June...

The girls from the breastfeeding support group (minus one)...
our girls have gotten so big!

Library Summer Program and 23 Weeks Pregnant

Every week Wren and I attend the Baby and Toddler program at the library.
In August, they took a 5 week break.
Sad.
BUUUUUT, the librarian threw a "Splishy Splashy Squishy Squashy Summer Fun Party" before the break.
Woohoo!
The kids came in swimming suits and got to play in pools full of bubbles and shaving cream!

Bubbles!

Wren and Macy in a "who's gonna get the shovel first" stand off.

Look like Wren beat her to it.
Now we just need to work on sharing!
:)

Swimming suits at the library?

Lots of fun!

Shaving cream EVERYWHERE!

Wren's playing it safe with safety goggles.

Definitely a fun day, but we were sad to take such a long break from our library friends.
Fortunately, the library program just started up again this past week!
Yippee!!!!!!!

Pregnancy update....
  • How far along are you?  23 weeks 5 days
  • How big is the baby?   about 10.5-11.8 inches and about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces... the size of a grapefruit!
  • Weight gain? Ugh.  I don't even want to think about this.  I have put on 20 pounds in 23 weeks!  Yikes.  I attribute this last large gain to a 2 week vacation.  Now those numbers need to stop going up so ridiculously fast!  :)
  • Stretchmarks?  None, fortunately.... yet, anyway.
  • Belly button? In, in, in.
  • Cravings? Coffee.  Weird.  I couldn't stand it last pregnancy, and up until just a couple of weeks ago during this pregnancy.  Now I'm drinking a small cup most mornings!
  • Latest hormonal outburst? I got quite emotional about the recycling bin being inaccessible the other day.  Jeez.
  • Vomiting?  No, thank goodness.
  • Feeling prepared?  Some days.  I would really like to get a start on Wren's big girl room by October.  She is moving down the hall into Chris's office and we are moving the office downstairs... one of these days.
  • Names?  I have decided that this baby probably won't have a name.  :)
  • Sleep?  Still sleeping well.
  • Random pregnancy side effects?  Pulled stomach muscles randomly throughout the day.  Not fun.
  • Best moment this week?  Chris has been able to feel the baby move!
  • Gender?  Not finding out again this time.  Which is fortunate for us because at the 20 week ultrasound the ultrasound tech wasn't even be able to tell!  Baby was rolled up in tight little ball, not showin' us nothin'!

Playing Dress Up

Long time no see, eh?
We've been a pretty busy family this past month.
I can't believe I posted only ONCE in August!
Dang.
Here's a brief overview of what we've been up to...

An awesome 2-week trip back home...
lots of painting, staining, and reupholstering while I attempt to redo the dining room (sort of)...
Chris preparing to re-launch the petbookings website...
my 28th birthday...
 Chris's 31st birthday (today, actually!)...
Wren's vocabulary taking off...
oh, and did I mention I'm already 23 freakin' weeks pregnant?!?!
Um... where did August go?

I have a ton of pictures to sort through from our trip home to Minnesota and Wisconsin.
But until then, here are some shots of Wren playing dress up earlier this summer...

Fluffy tutu, sparkly shoes, shiny jewelry... the girl's got the whole shebang goin' on!

Helping Momma Make Cookies

I was in the middle of making cookies one afternoon...
which, since I've been pregnant, I feel like is a weekly occurrence...
anyway, I needed to take a batch out of the oven, but I couldn't find my oven mitt.
Hmmmmm... when something is missing, I usually know who the culprit is.
All I needed to do was find her.
A quick peek in the living room, and there she was, just playing away... with my missing oven mitt!

Just playin'.

Funny girl.

Wanting to take the cookies out for me.

Ha, what a stinker!

Showing me how it goes on.

I switched her the mitt for the spatula.
Fortunately, she was ok with the trade.

St. Jude Fest and 18 weeks

I just unloaded my camera with all the pics I have taken in the past month or so...
getting some new blog posts up soon.
I came across a few unpublished drafts I had saved earlier...
this being one of them.
I figured I would post this first before my newest additions.
These pics are from the St. Jude Fest back in June.
We took Wren last year when she was only 10 weeks old.
She spent most of the time riding in her stroller and sleeping.
This year... different story.
We had a running, crazy toddler to chase after!
How much changes in a year!

With her 50/50 tickets

Carousel ride with Daddy

Daddy won her a prize!

This week's pregnancy update...
  • How far along are you? 18 weeks
  • How big is the baby?   The size of a sweet potato... or 5.6 inches and 6.7 ounces.
  • Weight gain? Doctor's appointment on Friday, will find out then.
  • Stretchmarks?  Nada.
  • Belly button?  Still there.
  • Cravings?  Mexican and chocolate chip cookies with ice cream.
  • Latest hormonal outburst?  Last weekend.  Involving painting the dining room chairs.  Aye yi yi.
  • Vomiting?  Indulged in my Mexican craving last night and felt like barfing afterwards.  Too.  Many.  Chips.
  • Feeling prepared?  As far as clothing, I just went through all of Wren's clothes she's grown out of and pulled out all of the gender neutral attire.  If we have a girl, we are set.  If we have a boy I think we will be okay for a while.  So many of the gender neutral clothes we had for Wren have never even been worn.  I think they look boyish.  As soon as people found out we had a girl, the pink outfits came rolling in and we never even put her in the other stuff.  Most of the newborn to 3 month neutral clothing is brand spanking new... not a single spit up or poop stain to be found!
  • Names?  I have a short list of girls names I like.  Chris only "kind of" likes a few of them.  As far as boys names go, I'm stumped.
  • Sleep?  Wren's been a little crazy at night lately (teething, maybe?), but that's really the only thing affecting my sleep.  I pee when I get up to take care of her and back to bed I go!
  • Random pregnancy side effects?  Serious nesting (already?!)
  • Best moment this week?  Wren and I spent a whole day with a friend from high school and her 2 little ones!  It was so fun and nice to see that juggling 2 young kids out in public CAN BE DONE!  :)
  • Work?  I am fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom, so yes, I am working my butt of every day.  :)  Haha, it's funny because the first day I started this new gig after quitting my old job, I took a pregnancy test because I was feeling "sort of pregnant."  Lo and behold- pregnant!  I felt good for about a week after finding out.  I felt so good I even ran a half marathon!  As soon as I hit the 6 week mark (and 2 days after the half marathon, fortunately), I hit a wall... or more like the floor, I guess.  I was sooooo sick.  A few days I could barely get off the floor except to throw up.  Poor Wren.  We read a lot of books and didn't do much else during those first few weeks.  I remember thinking then (and when I was sick while pregnant with Wren, too), "I am NEVER getting pregnant again."  Pretty sure I thought the same thing after delivery.  Haha... funny how you forget those things.  :)

Bad Blogger Update- Wren at 15 Months and Me at 17 Weeks

Yeah, yeah, yeah...
I haven't posted in a long time.
Our days go by pretty quickly lately...
Play dates, swimming, library program, and Grandma O', Aunt Sorcha, and Great Grandma Knight came to visit, too (that's a whole 'nother post in itself)...
lots going on!

Being 17 weeks pregnant and chasing after a busy 15-month old is tough stuff!
I definitely am taking advantage of nap time every day and am napping myself.
Wren is as busy as ever... running, hiding, being a crazy toddler.
We sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider about 50 times a day.
She is starting to say a few words.
She peeked in on Chris in the bathroom the other day and said, "Hi, Dad!"
Haha, we couldn't believe it!
At her 15-month check up last week, Wren weighed in at 22 lbs and 31 3/4 inches.
35th percentile for weight and 84th percentile for length.
I need to post some pictures soon.
There are a few on the camera, but not many...
I have been suuuuuuper bad about taking pictures!
I blame it on the pregnancy.

This pregnancy has been way different than the first.
Maybe that means a boy this time? :)
I LOVED being pregnant with Wren.
Other than a few weeks of nausea at the beginning, and some wicked heartburn in the 3rd trimester, my first pregnancy was wonderful.
And although I still am enjoying being pregnant, this time around has been quite a bit different...
Way more sickness (which was absolutely miserable from week 6 through about week 12)....
Way more moodiness (ha, just ask Chris)....
Way more acne (boo)...
Way more tired during the day (thank goodness Wren takes good naps)....
Way more food aversions (I can't even type them here without my gag reflex kicking in)....
Way more headaches (I had NONE when pregnant with Wren, now I seem to get them a few times a week)...
But enough with the negatives, there are also some positive differences, too....
This pregnancy is going by SO FAST.
Being so busy all day makes the weeks really fly by.
I feel way more relaxed this time around... I guess it's the "been there, done that" mentality.
I started to feel the baby move last week!
I felt Wren moving around 19 weeks, so it's pretty exciting to feel this baby a few weeks earlier.

Okay, so I have seen other bloggers do things similar to this, and I am going to try to post these pregnancy updates every few weeks for ya...

  • How far along are you?  17 weeks today!
  • How big is the baby?   According to thebump.com, the baby is 5.1" and 5.9 oz.
  • Weight gain?  Eh, not too sure... but as of my 13 week appointment, I had gained 1 lb.
  • Stretchmarks?  Nope, and hopefully none this time around.  I got lucky with Wren and didn't get a single one!
  • Belly button?  In, and will probably stay in.  Never popped with Wren.
  • Cravings?  Gosh, it changes every day.  Today it was chocolate covered toffee.  And applesauce.
  • Latest hormonal outburst?  Oh man, everything sets me off these days.
  • Vomiting?  I took my prenatal vitamin on an empty stomach a while ago... that didn't turn out so well. Ended up puking in the driveway for all the neighbors to see.
  • Feeling prepared?  For the most part, yes.
  • Names?  Ha, no.  Naming a human is a very hard thing to do.
  • Sleep?  Up to pee at least once a night, but good sleep other than that.  Napping most days when Wren sleeps.
  • Random pregnancy side effects?  Bananas give me heartburn.  Yuck.
  • Best moment this week?  Feeling the baby move!
  • Maternity clothes?  Just busted them out last week.

My Big Girl

I know I just posted pics in another entry with Wren with pig tails in, but they are just too darn cute to not take pictures of and share with ya'll.
I think they make her look so big!
She left them in most of the day.
I have found that if you don't talk about them, she forgets about them and leaves them in.
So, so, so stinkin' cute....

My big girl!
:)
