Pretty Baby in a Fuzzy Hat

I just looooooove these pictures of Wren!

She doesn't mind wearing the hat, either.

Trying to get the camera, of course.

Such a cutie pie!

I need to upload pictures from the camera.  I have been putting it off for a while.  I usually like to clear the camera at the end of every month... so I should be getting it done soon.  So until then, this is what ya get!  :)

Joe Dirt?

Two words for ya....

Baby.  Mullet.

Yikes.

For some reason Wren has a suuuuuper loooong chunk of hair on the back of her head.  It looks crazy.  I have thought about braiding it and giving her a little baby rat tail.  Just kidding.  Well, sort of.  Haha, but for real... it's kind of strange how long that section of hair is!  It's not even the undermost layer of hair, it grows from like the middle of her head down.  Weird.  I have thought about cutting it even with the rest of her hair, but I just can't bring myself to do it just yet.... ahhh, oh well.  I guess she'll just have a baby mullet for a little while longer.

Halloween Party!

Wren went to her first Halloween party yesterday!  Our breast feeding support group had a party during our normal weekly meeting last night.  Lots of yummy treats and cutie patootie babies dressed up in costumes!  They were all so cute!

Momma and a deer in headlights... I mean a ladybug.

Wren and Sara the Dalmatian

Wren with Lily the Skeleton!

My little punkin!

The girls playing.  I think Wren really liked Sara's tutu.

Some of the moms and babies!

I am really looking forward to Halloween next year when Wren will kinda know what's going on.  Trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, and (hopefully) our own Halloween party!  I would really, really like to throw a Halloween party next year!  We will see... it's still a whole year away, but I already have sooooo many great ideas!  :)

Time to Lower the Crib... Again

I can't keep up with this girl.  Wren is seriously learning something new every single day.  Her newest trick is standing up.  She learned to crawl, pull herself up to sitting on her knees, and pull herself up to a standing position all in span of just a few days.  Crazy.  Here she is having fun in her crib...

Pulling herself up

Being a silly girl

Cracking herself up

And she's up!

So proud of herself!

Haha, oh my gosh, this picture makes me laugh!

Needless to say, Wren's crib is now at the lowest setting possible.  Jeez.  Hoping she doesn't figure out how to climb out of the crib any time soon. :)

Food!

Shortly after Wren turned 6 months old, we began giving her table food.  We completely bypassed purees.  In my opinion, there is absolutely no need for that baby mush.  We give her whatever we are eating at meal time... usually.  As long as it's healthy, she gets to try it, too!  Everyone always asks us the usual questions... "Isn't she going to choke?!".... uh, no.  "Don't you have to start with baby cereal?!".... uh, no  "Isn't she missing out on important nutrients she can only get from jarred baby food?!".... uh, no.  We are following this approach to introducing solids, and honestly, it seems to be the way that makes the most sense to me.  I have tried purees with the kids I have nannied for, and believe me, it can be a painful process.  This way is relaxed, simple, entertaining, and freeeeeeeeee (well, besides the cost of our food... but that's kind of a given).

Chicken and dumplings!

Haha... it's so entertaining watching her try new things!

Wren tries anything we give her.  She seems to really, really enjoy bread.  The sweetness of fruit always makes her pucker up.  She makes a face like it tastes disgusting, but she always puts the fruit back in her mouth!

So far it's been a fun, albeit messy, experience!   :)

3 Year Anniversary

On Monday we celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary!  Chris took the afternoon off and the 3 of us went to Traders Point Creamery for the afternoon.  We had lunch at The Loft... all organic, local, and seasonal ingredients!  Our kind of place!  Chris had a Traders Point Creamery raw cheese grilled cheese sandwich, I had a 100% grass-fed beef cheeseburger (also with TPC raw cheese!), and Wren had veggies, grilled cheese crust, and a mini temper tantrum.  Ah yes, we were that family.  The family with the hollerin' baby in the nice restaurant where everyone is trying to enjoy their lovely lunch in peace.  Wren's food was gone (on the ground, in her tummy, or smooshed all over the front of her), and she was mad.  Really mad.  I took her into the bathroom to change her diaper and try to settle her down.  Not happening.  So I ended up taking her to the car to feed her while Chris stayed at the table to get the check and some ice cream to go!  We ate our dessert in the car while Wren nursed, then we walked all around the farm a bit.  We saw cows and chickens, took a little walk through the fields, and watched the cows get milked.  It really was a lovely afternoon with my family!  :)

I think the sun was right in Wren's eyes.

Broccoli for lunch!

This makes me smile!

Grandma O' and Aunt Sorcha's Visit- Part 3

The third and final segment of the saga!  Haha... ok, so Saturday morning started out with Wren trying out her beautiful Amish made highchair/rocking horse/desk from Great Grandpa Duggan and Grandpa O'!

Soon she will be big enough to ride all by herself!

After morning nap, we headed to the zoo!

It was Zoo Boo at the zoo!  Lots of fun Halloween decorations!

This one made me laugh a lot... poor scarecrow!

Going to pet the sharks
Watching the penguins swim by

We love the zoo

Another beautiful fall day!

We heard the elephant trumpet
(is that what it's called when it makes noises with it's trunk??)

It came up so close to the glass!

Girls at the zoo!

Haha, love Wren's little face peeking out!

The tiger exhibit is so cool!  They come right up to the glass!

Having fun at the zoo!

Thanks for the zoo shirt, Grandma!

This was Wren's second trip to the zoo.  We went back in June when Graham and Melissa came to visit, but Wren slept the whole entire time on that trip!  She was only like 8 weeks old, I think.  This time around she was awake and alert for the whole trip!  We will have to come dressed in costume next year for Zoo Boo... they hand out candy! :)

After our zoo trip, we came home and made caramel dip for the apples we bought at Apple Works.  The caramel was soooooo yummy!  Oh, and I love this cookbook, too!

Once Wren got up from her afternoon nap, we headed over to Jim and Kathleen's for the Kennel Cookout.

The official "Hot Dog Cooker"

Wren was more interested in looking at Sorcha!

Sorcha and I have on the same colors!
Black, gray, and purple... I didn't even notice until I looked at these pics!

I thought Wren would have been more interested in the fire...
but no, she wanted my necklace... like usual.

She wants the hot dog (actually the bun) so bad.

I think I have created a little carb monster!

Kissing the punkin!

Family picture!

What a busy, fun-filled weekend we had!  Mom and Sorcha headed back to Minnesota Sunday morning.  We were so sad to see them leave... I wish they lived closer!  We are all looking forward to seeing the whole family at Christmas, though!  Should be quite an adventure!  :)

Grandma O' and Aunt Sorcha's Visit- Part 2

...alright, I'm starting right where I left off on Sunday night.  After Apple Works, we cruised on down to Nashville in Brown County.  Wren was due for a nap, so she slept on the 45 minute trip in the car.  It was such a beautiful fall day to be walking around Nashville!  Our first stop was to get a late lunch at Harvest Moon Pizza.  Wren had her first taste of breadsticks!  She loved them... a little too much I think.  She threw a mini tantrum when hers was all gone.  Yikes.  Kinda like her momma! :)

Here are some pics from the day....

Grandma O' and Wren!

Letterboxing underneath a lovely Sycamore tree

Love this pic of Sorcha and Wren!

Candy store!

Happy girl shopping with her Grandma O'!

Taking a break.

Playing with leaves

Letterboxing!

A ziploc bag filled with M&M's kept her pretty entertained.
Ay yi yi....just wait until she finds out what they taste like!

Took a taste of Grandma's ice cream.
Not a big fan.... yet. :)

Oh, and here's Wren's very first hand print craft!
We made these Friday night... so cute!

Checking out her tree.

Sooooooo, that was our busy Friday.  We were super busy on Saturday, too!  I think the camera with Saturday's pictures is in the car that Chris took to work today, so I will have to extend Saturday into another post.  Just like to keep ya'll hanging....

To be continued.... again.
